| Description: | Originally posted by Shadowfyst997: Alright, I guess it's time for me to post my first ever anime review. This one is on my all time favorite anime, Bokurano. As far as i know, its only in japanese, so you will have to watch it subbed, but never fear. Youtube has it. Anyways, without further ado, here is my review. When a group of children discover a strange cave at the beach, their lives are forever changed. Inside they meet a man called Kokopelli who seems to have a lot of advanced gadgetry. He invites them to participate in a ‘game’ in which they play heroes saving Earth from fifteen giant monsters. When they eagerly sign the contract, a real life battle starts with Kokopelli piloting the mecha, which they now realize is real. They very shortly realize that the giant mecha uses thier life force to pilot it, and they die after being a pilot. The show centers around the feelings behind knowing death approaches, and how each person deals with it. Each character get an episode or two for a backstory, before they pilot. Animation 7/10 Not bad, nicely drawn. Nothing overly amazing to distinguish it, but enjoyable to look at. It does some nice drawing of Zearth, and the battles flow smoothly. Storyline 9/10 This series does a superb job of explaining things logically, at a reasonable time. While not everything is ever explained, it fits. Audio 8/10 This series has very fitting background music and sound effects. As the robot is sitting there doing nothing, you can hear it creak and groan, without being unable to hear them speak. The theme song is nothing short of amazing, and the two ending songs are quite nice as well. I only gave this a 9 because, while the background music is nice, it is present at a few points when you wish it wasn't. Character Development 11/10 As the series focuses on nothing but how the characters develop, this deserves my rare bonus point. Every character gets an entire episode, sometimes two, just to get you to know the next on the chopping block. Also, One character in particular, Ushiro Jun, goes from being the character that you cannot help but want to beat, to a character that you just want to hug. Overall Score 10/10 This is the best anime i have ever seen, with only a few close seconds. Its just the right size, not too short and not too long. Like i said, you should be able to get it off of youtube, subbed. Definatly worth the time to watch, and you will find yourself unable to ever forget it. |
